 Principal Hiti

West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan Area Schools is pleased to announce Chris Hiti will be the next principal of Friendly Hills Middle School. Hiti is currently the principal at the district’s other middle school, Heritage E-STEM Magnet. He will begin his new role as principal of Friendly Hills on July 1.

“It has been an honor to serve as the principal at Heritage,” said Hiti. “We created an environment where learning is “active” every day. It is a wonderful place for students, families and staff.”

Hiti started with School District 197 at Friendly Hills Middle School in 1997. He was a social studies teacher and later became an associate principal. Hiti became the principal of Heritage in 2005.

While at Heritage, Hiti led the school through several new initiatives, such as the development of the school’s Environmental-STEM magnet theme and the implementation of its 1:1 iPad program for students. In 2012 and 2013 Heritage was designated as an Apple Distinguished School for its overall use of technology to enhance and accelerate learning.

“Having worked at each school and in the district for so many years, Mr. Hiti has an understanding of our two middle schools and a respect for what makes them unique,” said Superintendent Nancy Allen-Mastro. “Mr. Hiti is an excellent leader who is well regarded by students, staff, parents, and colleagues and I know he will be a great fit for Friendly Hills.”

Current Friendly Hills Principal Joni Hagebock recently announced she will be the new principal at Somerset Elementary in 2014-15. Hagebock replaces Sara Palodichuk who accepted a principal position in South Washington County Public Schools.

School District 197 will immediately begin the process of finding a new principal for Heritage E-STEM Magnet School.  A new principal will be in place for the start of the new school year. The district is currently gathering staff and parent input to inform the process.
