Hello, and welcome to Friendly Hills Middle School!

I have been a school counselor since 1994, licensed for grades K-12.

Currently at Friendly Hills, I have also worked at Heritage Middle School, and Mendota Elementary.
I graduated from Macalester College and University of Wisonsin-River Falls. I live in the district and have two children who are receiving an excellent education in District 197 schools. I enjoy being part of the vibrant community that is Friendly Hills, and love my job, where there is never a dull moment! In my free time I enjoy camping, spending time at the lake, attending my kids' sporting events and activities, and traveling to new places with my family.

My name is Jessica Grochowski and I am so excited to be joining the Friendly Hills Middle School community!
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and my school counseling degree from the University of Wisconsin River Falls.

I currently live in Woodbury with my two sons who are 11 and 13.   In my free time, you can find me out on a run or at the yoga studio.  This summer, we took a road trip out to South Dakota and visited Mount Rushmore.
I love working with children, and am passionate about inspiring, motivating and encouraging students to achieve their goals.  I look forward to getting to know you and your families!  Its going to be a great year!

Students will have the option to join Lunch Groups which meet once per week during their lunch period. These groups allow students to meet new friends, touch base with a caring adult, and discuss any middle school questions and concerns they may have. If you prefer that your child not participate in a Lunch Group, please email me at
